Geiranger - the king of fjords

waterfalls ferry Norway trip

Every summer we take the ferry from Geiranger to Hellesylt. Just to enjoy the waterfalls, the fresh air and the spectacular nature. We eat svele and drink pineapple soda. Seriously the best food for this ride. Well maybe not, but for me it is. Svele and pineapple is typical for this region of Norway. I dare you to try it!

It is only possible to take the ferry from Geiranger to Hellesylt during the summer. During the boat trip you can see old farms high up in the steep mountains and spectacular waterfalls. The seven sisters and their suitor on the opposite side of the fjord are 300 m free fall waterfalls. The suitor is still waiting for the sisters´ answer and the waiting is unbearable. Rest of the story and others are told on board.

Geiranger - Hellesylt sommerferge

From Hellesylt you can drive through Norangsdalen valley and spend the night at Hotel Union Øye. Be careful driving through the narrow valley you might run into cows and sheep witch tend to greet every car intrusively. The children tend to love it!

I could go on and on about the trip from Gerianger to Øye. But actually you have to experience it yourself. Maybe will meet this summer!?!
